Parenting Club

In 2016, we offered three Triple P parenting evenings for Holland Park State High families, sponsored under a Queensland Government initiative. We also ran three additional sessions based on parent feedback on the topics of 'cyber safety', 'managing conflict' and 'Teenagers - managing moods and promoting well-being', run by school personnel - our guidance officer, the school based nurse and DETE exports from the cyber safety team.

Parents were able to share their experiences, meet other parents and the key discovery, and realise that they are not alone in finding parenting teenagers challenging, yet rewarding. We are happy to announce that we will be offering a similar series in 2017.

In addition to all parent of the school being welcome to attend the Triple P parenting sessions. This program is also open to the wider community. Parenting club runs over six sessions in terms 1-3, from 7:30pm-9:00pm, in either the assembly hall or the common room in the admin block.

Parenting club is not a commonly offered activity. It offers parents a mix of expert advice, self-help and joint problem solving.
